Colors Restaurant/Red Guam Map & Directions
I really wanted to like this restaurant. It was chic, had a streamlined menu, and a romantic atmosphere, but I had to wait 15-20 minutes after i was seated to get the menu. I was confused at why they didn’t give me the menu when i was seated.
Although the menu was streamlined, the drink menu was anything but. I couldn’t find the wine section anywhere. It was a ridiculous list of drinks. Serving mainly steak and lamb, you would think they will have a nice wine section, they only had 4 or 5 selections when i was there.
I ordered the Dijonnaise lamb and wasn’t too thrilled by it. I thought the zinfandel reduction was interesting but all i tasted from the lamb was Dijon mustard. I wished i had ordered the herb crusted lamb because anyone could’ve made a dijon mustard covered lamb. I also wasn’t too happy with the quality of the steak. I wished they had aged their steaks. However, the portions were really nice. It was enough to satisfy you, yet you were able to order dessert after.
The dessert was really good. I would come back next time to try the bread pudding and sour cream ice cream.
Overall, I didn’t hate it and i didn’t like it, i’m willing to give it a second chance. Hopefully, the restaurant would be more innovative and improve their recipes and ingredients like aging their beef.
I spent my first dinner date here with a very special person. He couldn’t have picked a more romantic and cozy candlelit dinner than Red.
Exquisite decor, love the modern sofa chair (perfect for cuddling while dining), and ambiance is fancy yet welcoming. The wait staff is amazing. Our server was super nice (maybe because my date was good looking hehe ). The executive chef was kind enough to visit our table for a little chit chat. He recommended the bubble shots. I had the Midori Sour bubble shot. Its like popping a wet bubble gum in your mouth with a little bit of zing and pizzazz. Yummy and Fun!
The food was top notch. Beautiful plating techniques and the food taste exactly how it looks… delicious! Their complimentary bread with dipping sauce is addicting. I had the crab cakes for appetizers and I was dipping my bread on their crab cake sauce and WOW it was delish! The entree was yummy! I couldn’t ask for more.
I’m so glad I was able to experience Red. No doubt I will be there again on my next visit to Guam.
5 Stars!
This is a follow-up to my review below.
Earlier I said that the food was “too salty”.
They seemed to have fixed this. We got “Da Bone” and the salt factor was perfect.
So I would like to note that the “salty problem” I commented on in my review below has been fixed.
RED seemed to be having a few growing pains when they first started, but those seem to be ironed out.
This is now one of my favorite spots on the island. The best atmosphere for a hot date. The way they display & decorate your food dish is amazing! You feel like you are in a fine dining establishment in Vegas.
You have to try their Jack Daniel’s Bubble Shots. Super Oishi!
P.S. Oh, and the cooks didn’t stare at me this time. (haha) I didn’t get a chance to hear the live band play so I don’t know if they are still too loud (I’ll check next time I go).
The first thing I said when I walked in was “WHOA”.
Definitely the best atmosphere of any restaurant on island. Very chic. The appetizers were awesome, and servers were swell.
This restaurant seemed like a good restaurant, on the cusp of being great.
Things I liked:
– Great location (in Acanta Mall)
– fast, responsive service
– totally awesome appetizers and salads
– Good prices (you get what you pay for here)
– Awesome interior decoration. One of the classiest joints to be in.
Things I didn’t like:
– The chefs all stare at you when you walk in. Not nicely, just sort of weird-like.
– Live music too loud. That place really echoes. We had to yell over the live music band. Sort of sucked.
– The entrees were WAY too salty. It wasn’t an anomaly. Every person’s entree just had way too much salt. Also, their salmon thingie entree was so blah.
It almost felt like they put all their efforts into the decor, the appetizers, the service, the drinks, and then they totally skipped on the entree.
