    Jeff Says:

My wife and I went to Gabriel’s for the first time a few days ago for her birthday. We just moved to the island and back in the mainland we had been eating at an excellent Italian place, because of this our standards were very high. We were not disappointed.

The place is small and rather cozy. This is good because it adds a nice “homely” touch to everything. The wait staff were very friendly and also very attentive (which we really appreciated) and because of which I decided to leave a bigger tip than I normally would have.

We decided to have the “Lady and the Tramp” which is a soup, salad, and spaghetti and meatballs dish that you share, as well as a slice of cheesecake for only $26 dollars. We were also very happy with the reasonable prices of everything on the menu. We asked the server if we could substitute a slice of Tiramisu for the Cheesecake and they were very accommodating and said that they would.

The soup was delicious and very fresh. It was made with fresh vegetables and was seasoned perfectly. The salad was also very refreshing and the dressing was very tasty.

The spaghetti and meatballs were excellent. The pasta noodles definitely tasted like they were cooked to ordered and not like they had been made hours in advance.

The sauce had a “sweetness” to it that I wasn’t used to. I had never had a sauce like this before, but my wife and I both agreed that the more that we ate, the more that we decided that we really liked it. The meatballs were properly seasoned and were delicious.

The tiramisu was lovely. I don’t know if they make it on site or if it’s brought in, but I didn’t care because it was still good.

Overall, we had a very good experience and we will definitely be returning again to try other menu items. I definitely recommend this place to anyone.

If there were any negative aspects to Gabriel’s is the lack of alcohol served. We asked for a glass of wine with our dinner and the server informed us that they didn’t serve alcohol but are in the process of obtaining a license. While this was unfortunate, it wouldn’t stop be from returning and it shouldn’t dissuade you from eating there either. Hopefully they’ll obtain a license soon so I can enjoy a nice glass of wine with my dinner.

    I fully recommend this restaurant.

These guys provided us with great service from the start. We loved our first meal at Gabriel’s House of Pasta too much (lunch), that we moved our dinner reservations later that week so we can get back that soon in this restaurant.

Fresh, tasty food served in a small yet welcoming environment by cheerful, and hardworking staff.

I agree, the chef is awesome! You can tell the difference in the food when someone else prepares it. I’ve been there many times and have enjoyed their “lady and the tramp” set meal, their sandwiches, and their fried ravioli! YUMM

If Gabriel is in the kitchen cooking, this place is one of the best Italian restaurants on island.

If Gabriel is out, and there is an assistant chef in the kitchen, this place is just OK.

I would call ahead of time, and find out when Gabriel is actually cooking. He does need to do a better job of transferring his passion into his assistants.

It’s not about following instruction; Great cooking is about falling in love with the dish you are creating.

I can taste the difference love makes in their dishes.
